Vadodara city also known as a Baroda. It is the administrative headquarter of Vadodara District and is located on the banks of the Vishwamitra river, it is far 141 km from the state capital Gandhinagar.The railway line and national highway 8 that connect Delhi and Mumbai pass through Vadodara. Vadodara city also known as a Sanskari Nagari of India.

HISTORY OF VADODARA

The city used to be called Chandanavati after its ruler Raja Chandan of the Dodiya tribe of Rajputs. It's Capital also known as a Viravati or Virakshetra. Later on, it is known as a Vadpatraka or Vadodara. It is now impossible to ascertain when the various changes in the name were made; but early English traveller and merchants mention the town as Brodera. and then this city was known as a Baroda.In 1974, the official name of the city was changed and become Vadodara.
